Choices

Dream Imagine Create
my first manadala
2009

Thank you all for your heartfelt and thoughtful comments on the previous post!  What struck me most, as I read them again today, is how each of us handles things differently.  We make choices every day, every moment, which determine how we will act or react.  And our choices are as unique as we are.

There is no one "right" choice.  We have to choose for ourselves which path we will follow.   What's right for one is not necessarily right for another.

For me, I know that I need a lot of time to myself.  Time to think, and feel and internalize everything I see and hear.   Like all of us, I need time to heal from the information overload that is part of modern life.  But I also need to know what's going on in the world around me.  I need to get angry and frustrated and shake my fist.  I need to cry and raise my voice in anger at injustice.

I may feel helpless to help in many situations, but if I can write about what I've learned, maybe that's the small bit of difference I can make in the world.

I found this wonderful quote today, which says perfectly how I feel:

There can be no happiness
if the things we believe in
are different from the things we do.
~ Freya Stark

So, for me, I have to keep learning about things that may depress me.  And I have to keep dreaming and imagining that someday we could have a world where we are all wiser, a world where everyone will do better for the benefit of all.

With our thoughts
we make the world.
~ Buddha

Keep dreaming.
